The Japanese Higonokami pocket knife is characterized by its simple construction. The blade is held in place by an axial rivet in the folded brass handle, and the knife is opened using a lever (Japanese: chikiri) on the spine of the blade. Despite its simple overall construction, the blade is of very high quality and is made of three-layered carbon steel.
This small and compact version of the Higonokami knife is ideal for smaller, everyday cutting tasks. Thanks to the practical brass ring, the knife can be easily attached to a keychain, keeping it always at hand.
