This beautiful Terre de Fer collector's plate comes from the renowned French manufacturer Jules Vieillard & Cie in Bordeaux and is part of the popular "Pêcheurs" (Fishermen) décor. Crafted in the late 19th century, it combines fine craftsmanship with an atmospheric maritime depiction.
The motif shows fishermen in a small boat, a sailing ship on the horizon, and a calm coastal landscape. The décor was printed using the traditional transfer print method, which is characteristic of the high-quality French faience and ironstone of this period. The subtle sea-green coloring gives the plate its elegant and timeless appeal.
Made from Terre de Fer, a particularly robust ironstone with a porcelain-like appearance, the plate was originally produced for daily use. Today, it is among the coveted collector's items of French table culture and is equally suitable as a decorative wall plate or a stylish component of a historical dinnerware collection.
On the underside are the original manufacturer's stamp "PÊCHEURS / JV.B. / T. DE FER" and a blind stamp, which underline the authenticity of the piece.
An authentic piece of 19th-century French table culture – with a poetic coastal motif and an exceptional collector's character.
