This small ceramic tureen comes from the workshop of French ceramicist Émile Masson, who is particularly known for his work in Vallauris. With its characteristic shape and graphic decor, it is a fine example of French studio pottery from the 1960s and 1970s.
The round tureen features two side handles and a high, conical lid with a knob. The geometric decor of dark brown lines and stylized patterns creates a striking contrast to the light gray, slightly speckled glaze. The visible turning grooves and small irregularities give the piece its artisanal character.
On the underside is the mark "Tarentaise," which refers to Masson's workshop in Savoy. Originally intended for serving soup, the small tureen is also suitable today as a decorative ceramic object.
