This antique French bistro porcelain saucer dates from the 1920s and was originally used in cafés and bistros to display the price of a drink directly on the crockery. Inscriptions such as "1f25" or "2f25" represent historical prices in francs and centimes – a charming testament to French everyday and bistro culture of the early 20th century.
Such so-called tariff saucers (coupelles tarifaires) were presented to the guest along with the bill and are now rare collector's items with an authentic café character. The coloured rim, the simple design and the visible signs of wear tell of decades of use in French bistros.
Today, these saucers are ideal as a decorative collector's item, trinket dish or special detail for the kitchen, café or display cabinet.
Vintage condition with age-related signs of use that underline the authentic character and history of the object.
