This oval Schneider & Cie factory plate is from France and was originally used as a manufacturer's plate on machines or industrial equipment. Such plates served to identify technical equipment and are often found on steam locomotives, machines, or heavy industrial plants from the early 20th century.
The embossing refers to the "Services des Constructions Mécaniques" and the location of Harfleur near Le Havre, a historically significant center of French industry and shipbuilding production. The slightly curved shape, the embossed lettering, and the visible patina give the plate an authentic industrial character.
Today, the object is excellent as a collector's item, wall decoration, or a special detail for a workshop, office, or industrial interior.
