"TOP" whistle with leather strap – approx. 1930s–1950s

This metal whistle has the classic compact shape of a so-called escargot or snail whistle. Characteristic features are the laterally attached resonance chamber, the short mouthpiece, and the embossed "TOP" designation on the top side.

Whistles of this type were used in the 20th century in various fields – including sports, public authorities, the railway, and other activities where a signal audible from a distance was required. Comparable models were also produced in Germany in various versions and materials.

The silver-colored surface shows a beautiful patina consistent with its age. Attached to the rear eyelet is a long brown leather strap, which can be used to wear the whistle around the neck or attach it to equipment. The "TOP" engraving marks the top of the whistle.
