This Suze Gentiane carafe is a characteristic piece of French bistro and bar culture. The bulbous glass body with a long, narrow neck features the distinctive yellow-and-black “SUZE” lettering as well as the large S-logo with the designation “GENTIANE”.
Suze is a French aperitif based on gentian roots. Such branded carafes were part of the standard equipment in French cafés and bistros and were used for serving water. The bold typography and reduced color scheme give the carafe a particularly graphic character.
The model dates from the 1950s to the 1960s. With a height of 21 cm and heavy glass, the carafe is still excellent today as a water carafe or as a decorative object for a home bar.
This is a vintage utilitarian object with corresponding signs of age and use. Please also refer to the detailed images.
A beautiful piece of French bistro culture with particularly striking graphics.
