Rhino Paperweight

The Rhino Paperweight is a solid paperweight in the shape of a rhinoceros. It is manufactured by Sumitani Saburo Shoten, a traditional manufacturer from the metal city of Takaoka in Toyama Prefecture, which has been producing metal everyday objects since 1939.

The paperweight is made of solid cast iron – a material prized for its robustness, durability, and characteristic dark surface. Its solid weight reliably holds loose papers in place, while the minimalist shape of the rhinoceros gives the object a calm, sculptural presence.
