This clear glass measuring jug likely dates from around 1900. With its bulbous shape, curved handle and fine measuring scale, it is a beautiful example of the simple, functional design of historic kitchen utensils.
The jug has a slightly flared rim, a sturdy glass base and a handle attached to the side. On the front is an etched scale with horizontal markings and the handwritten-style label "500 ccm". The fine lines and curved lettering give the glass its distinctive character.
Originally, such a vessel was used for measuring liquids such as milk or water. Today, it is equally suitable as a decorative kitchen accessory or as a small vase for individual flowers.
