This extraordinary ceramic carafe from the French aniseed brand Casanis dates back to the 1960s. Its design, in the shape of a Moor's head, draws on a traditional motif from Corsican culture and makes it a special example of French advertising ceramics.
The sculpted facial area is finished with a glossy brown glaze. The cream-colored headdress with the raised black lettering "Casanis" provides a beautiful contrast. The handle on the side and the small pouring spout are harmoniously integrated into the figurative form.
Originally manufactured as an advertising carafe for French cafés and bistros, it was used to serve water, with which the aniseed aperitif Casanis is traditionally diluted. Today, it is primarily a decorative collector's item.
