This large, solid onyx ashtray comes from France and is particularly striking due to its exceptional natural patterning. Cream-colored and slightly translucent sections alternate with vibrant red, brown, and rose tones, creating ever-changing structures around the bowl.
The round, heavy design features a deeply carved basin and three cigarette rests ground into the rim. Weighing over 1.2 kilograms, the piece is exceptionally solid. The layered bands of the onyx are clearly visible on the exterior as well, underscoring its sculptural character.
Today, the ashtray can just as easily be used as a decorative catch-all tray for smaller items.
This is a vintage item that shows appropriate signs of age and use. Veining, color gradients, and inclusions are natural characteristics of onyx and make each piece unique.
