Ceramic ashtray with drip glaze – France, 1950s/60s

This exceptionally shaped ceramic ashtray is reminiscent of the French ceramic tradition of Vallauris from the 1950s and 1960s. Its organically curved form with two wells of varying depths and its expressive glaze make it a characteristic example of mid-century design.

The interplay of vibrant turquoise, dark brown, and bold orange is particularly striking. The dripping glaze creates fine, radial patterns that extend across the entire interior. Two orange cigarette rests provide additional accents.

Today, the piece is equally suitable as a decorative trinket dish for small items.
