The Pufferfish Paperweight is a solid bronze paperweight in the shape of a pufferfish. It is manufactured by Sumitani Saburo Shoten, a traditional manufacturer from the metalworking city of Takaoka in Toyama Prefecture, which has been producing metal everyday objects since 1939.

The paperweight is made of solid bronze – a material valued for its durability, pleasant feel, and distinctive surface. Over time, the bronze develops an individual patina that adds additional depth to the object. Its solid weight reliably holds loose papers in place, while the stylized shape of the pufferfish gives the object a calm, almost sculptural appearance.
