This bottle corker from the French brand SANBRI dates from the 1950s to the 1970s. The hand-operated tool was used for sealing wine bottles with natural corks and is a fine example of the functional design of traditional winemaking equipment.
The corker features an ergonomically shaped cast aluminum handle and a mechanical device for compressing the corks. The cork can then be pressed into the bottle neck via a side screw mechanism with a round push button. The combination of silver-colored aluminum and dark metal parts gives the tool its characteristic industrial look.
The brand name "SANBRI" is embossed on the housing. Originally intended for practical use in bottling wine, the bottle corker is now also an interesting collector's item from French winemaking and craft history.
