This old matchbox from the brand The Victoria was manufactured by the Union Allumettière in Brussels. The color-printed label features a horse-drawn chariot and bears the inscriptions “The Victoria – Impregnated Safety Matches”, “Damp Proof”, and “Made in Belgium”.
The box still contains around 60 original safety matches with red heads. The design is particularly beautiful and well-preserved, including the friction surfaces on the sides – a small utilitarian object from a time when even everyday packaging was elaborately designed.
