These three small ceramic animal figurines originate from Tonalá in the Mexican state of Jalisco, a traditional center of Mexican pottery. The handmade and hand-painted figures are beautiful examples of Mexican folk art from the 1960s and 1970s.
Each figure has its own unique shape and painting. The light-colored ceramic features floral motifs, leaves, and decorative lines in blue, green, brown, and black. The stylized animal forms and the slightly irregular paintwork give each figure its individual character.
The small animal figures can be beautifully arranged together on a shelf, a windowsill, or among other collected objects.
