This small, solid bronze bowl in a stylized fish shape comes from the workshop of the Swiss artist and designer Willy Steinlin. Its organic form, robust materiality, and contrasting surface design make it a characteristic example of 20th-century decorative metalwork.
The bowl features a warm, golden-brown rim, while the recessed interior shows a distinct dark patina. The deliberately irregular surface emphasizes its handcrafted nature. Despite its small dimensions, the little bowl weighs in at a substantial 245 grams.
On the underside, there is the embossed lettering "steinlin" and the characteristic artist's hallmark. Stylistically, the object can be attributed to the 1950s to 1970s.
It is just as suitable as a small tray for jewelry, coins, or other trinkets as it is as a standalone decorative object.
